Welcome to all of our new families and returning families for 2012.
Throughout the year Alunga holds different events in which you can participate. These vary from fundraising opportunities, to morning and afternoon tea, and many other opportunities throughout the year.
Our first parent meeting of the year discussed the fundraising events for the year where the parent committee decided what these are to be, please refer to the 2012 calendar of events.
Centre staffing this year has seen some changes in view of these changes staff have remained in the same rooms as 2012 with minimal changes.
Sharon, Amanda and Lani will continue to be the educators in the preschool room. ( all of which work on a full time basis)
The Early Learning will be staffed by Hayley (fulltime) Rashmi (full time), Emily (full time) and Cath (part time wed, thurs, fri).
Tara, Manori, Danielle,M and Danielle.C will assume roving positions within the centre.
We welcome Carol as our new clerical and invite you to contact her at the service with any regards to your account. Carol will be at the service 9-2 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the centre in any way that you can, this could be by attending parent meetings, providing comments on the policy reviews (positioned outside the Early Learning Room door) or even sharing information about what you and your children have been doing. (formats for recording this information is available in the foyer) For those families who are new to the centre we anticipate you have enjoyed the orientation
process and the many visits you have had leading up to your child’s starting date.
Please do not hesitate to ask the staff questions and phone the centre as many times as you wish to see how your child is going.
Sharon.
We have all been very busy in the Early Learning room. We have had lots of new children start and have been working very hard to form relationships with them and help them to settle calmly into our centre.
Role play has been very popular in the early learning room and we have changed the home corner into a babies nursery. Hayley has added some baby clothes, bottles, beds and equipment so
the children can care for the dolls and follow their interest in role playing.
Another big interest that has carried on from last year is the car track table. We have added the car parking station and some plants to give it a natural feel. The children spend lots of time at these areas but still tend to visit the craft and playdough tables.
We have been practicing some new dances in the room and one of our faviourte is “my body makes music.”
We would also like to welcome Rashmi to our room, she will be working five days.
The beginning of the year has been very busy. We have been settling our new friends that have transitioned from the Early Learning Room as well as some brand new children starting.
Those children in the room from last year have taken on a stronger role in helping their younger peers get used to the room and routine.
As teachers we have been working with all the children on their independence, social skills and guiding positive behaviours to ensure a happy, healthy and safe day at preschool. So far there is a continued interest in construction from those in the room.
Sharon has brought in some fantastic recycled materials for us to use and the children have loved making forts and cubby houses. Another interest has been fine motor manipulation experiences such as the magnets, cutting, marbles and spinning tops. Our friends just love keeping their hands busy!!!
If you have any other questions feel free to talk to Lani, Amanda or Sharonds.
