Warilla History

The Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre has been established for 22 years. The Illawarra Women’s Health Centre was the founder of the childcare centre, as they offered health services to women of the Illawarra area. The Illawarra Women’s Health Centre is managed by the Council of Women. As the demand for health services at the Illawarra Women’s Health Centre increased they also found a need to provide an occasional child care centre to support women and families within the community.

The Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre was initially managed and run by the Council of Women. Over time, The Council of Women noticed that the day-to-day management of an early childhood centre has its complexities and sought the help of Illawarra Area Child Care to take over the management of Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre. Illawarra Area Child Care has been managing Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre for almost 8 years now. Illawarra Area Child Care is a community based and not for profit organisation which has been established in the Illawarra Area since 1985.

Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre is a 28 place centre. Warilla Occasional Child Care Centre has 2 classrooms, an Early Learning Room offering care for 0-3 year olds and a Pre School Room which cater for 3-5 year olds. Each day we have 5-6 staff with varying qualifications ranging from Certificate 3, Diploma Trained and a Qualified Teacher. Our staff are dedicated and passionate about early childhood and continue to upgrade their qualifications as well as regularly attend various types of training.
